Salman Nazir
Professor Salman Nazir is a distinguished academic and researcher at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), serving as a Professor in the Department of Maritime Operations. He is the Scientific Leader of the Centre of Excellence in Maritime Simulator Training and Assessment (COAST) and the Head of the Training and Assessment Research Group (TARG).
He has a Masters degree from South Korea, and PhD from Italy. His research is focused on Human Factors, Training Methods, Virtual Reality Training Simulators, Performance Assessment, Learning Processes, Complex socio-technical systems, Safety, Crisis Management, and Situational Awareness.
He has authored or co-authored over 120 peer-reviewed scientific articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters in prestigious international journals and conferences. Over
his career, Prof. Nazir has secured numerous awards, research projects, and grants. As the principal investigator of 26 funded projects, he has made significant contributions to Human Factors theories and methods, leading projects worth approximately €15 million and partnering on projects totaling €4.8 million.
