Oystein is currently the Program Director Submarines at the Norwegian Ministry of Defence (MoD).
Before being the Program Director Submarines at the MoD Oystein was the Project Manager New Submarines for two periods, all in all five years. In this role he was responsible for the procurement solution and to contribute forming the cooperation with partner nation Germany including leading the project new submarines together with Germany into the procurement phase.
He has also been the Chief of the project department in the Norwegian Defence Material Agency, Naval systems (NDMA) for a period and before that have had several manager roles in the business of managing a submarine class.
Prior the project management roles in NDMA was Oystein head of the subsea department at company DNV, Bergen Norway.
Oystein has operational experience for several years as an engineering officer onboard 207 Kobben class submarines as well as type 210 Ula class submarines.
Oysten earned a Master degree in technical management from NTNU and MIT and bachelor degrees (similar) from Norwegian naval academy and civilian engineering schools. Besides command and staff course and senior executive course at the Norwegian Defence University College.
