Senior Principal Scientist – Project Technical Authority Maritime EW Programme, Dstl

A telecommunications RF background and joined what was the DRA in 1992 after working in industry on real-time traffic and monitoring systems writing software and device drivers.

31 years’ experience EW and missile technologies in various roles as an Engineer, Project Manager, Team Leader, Senior Analyst and now as a Project Technical Authority with significant international engagement in gov-2-gov programmes.

Seconded to  DE&S as a RESM  SQEP to joint UK/FR/IT EW programme office under the Project Horizon project, returning to the UK to work on countermeasure projects and then seconded to Washington DC for joint US/UK research.

On return took up Team Leader responsibilities for red system analysis to inform EW procurement options, whilst latterly undertaking project technology options and requirements definition for future RN surface to surface anti-ship weapon.

In the last seven years taking on lead S&T role in the RN Maritime Electromagnetic Warfare Programme (MEWP), engaging international partners and industry in requirements capture and definition with DE&S/RN and stakeholders.

Looking to engage further with international partners for the future phases of MEWPs including EW force defence with the architectural, openness, technologies and services that need to be shared to deliver maritime defence.
