John Hoddevik

Commander Senior Grade John Hoddevik was born in Eid on the 25th of September 1975. As a child he was growing up with is family in Hoddevik, a small community on the west cost of Norway. Now, Hoddevik has become a very popular destination for wave surfers from all over the world. Today he lives in Bergen with is family.

Commander Senior Grade Hoddevik started his military career in 1996 when he joined the Royal Norwegian Navy and become a Marine Engineer Officer in the Coast Guard. Commander Senior Grade Hoddevik has since that, served in various positions, on board and on shore. He served as a Marine Engineer Officer on board the Nansen class frigates for more than 4 years. Since the 8 of November 2018, Commander Senior Grade Hoddevik has worked mainly on issues related to the accident with the frigate HNoMS Helge Ingstad. He has participated in the investigations after the accident, and he has had a leading role in the legal follow-up work after the accident. In June 2022, Commander Senior Grade Hoddevik completed his master's thesis, which aims to create a deeper understanding of the accident with HNoMS Helge Ingstad, where using organizational theory and standards to be able to describe and understand the content of the Norwegian Safety Investigation Authority's reports after the accident with HNoMS Helge Ingstad. The analysis is assessed to be relevant both for the Norwegian Armed Forces and management in general.

Commander Senior Grade Hoddevik has a Maritime engineer degree, and he is certified by the Norwegian Maritime Directorate as a Marine Engineer Officer. He is also certified
as a project manager in the Norwegian Armed Forces. Commander Senior Grade Hoddevik has a bachelor's degree from the University of Tromsø with specialization in health, environment, and safety. In 2022, he finished a master's degree from the Norwegian Defense College. He has completed Petty Officer Training School in 1997, The Norwegian Military Academy in 2012 and The Norwegian Defence Command and Staff Collage in 2018. Commander Senior Grade Hoddevik has served several times in international forces, both on land and at sea. For his service he has received several decorations
