Dino Tropea

CDR Dino Tropea, in 1989, after obtaining a high school diploma as an Aerial Transport Technician and earning a tourist pilot license, joined the Italian Naval Academy, embarking on his journey as a Navy Officer. His career spanned over 35 years, during which he navigated for more than 13 years aboard various military ships, participating in both peace and operational missions in the Mediterranean basin and beyond the Mediterranean straits. Throughout this period, CDR Tropea acquired skills as a diver and served in various onboard
roles, including as Executive Officer on several naval units.

Following the seafaring phase of his career, he transitioned to employment in one of the Defense centers of excellence, specifically the Joint Intelligence Centre under the Italian MoD Information and Security Department. In this capacity, CDR Tropea performed various activities as an Intelligence Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Maritime Intelligence Analyst, working at the national level and collaborating with Commands and International Organizations.

Having been deployed multiple times abroad, his most recent assignment was from 2014 to 2018 at the NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) in Stavanger, Norway. During this period, he served as an Intelligence SME and acted as the Exercise Control (Excon) Chief Intel for the Trident series exercises conducted by JWC.

CDR Tropea's experience and expertise in information, security, and training garnered appreciation and recognition in numerous national and international fields and sectors. Currently, he continues to contribute to the field of individual and collective training at NATO M&S COE. In this privileged position, he shares his knowledge and experiences with students attending the courses he directs, actively contributing to the growth and development of the training sector and emphasizing the significance of his role in this field.
