Directed Energy Sustainment Systems Engineer, Naval Surface Warfare Center – Port Hueneme Division (USA)

Davidson Sim is the Directed Energy Sustainment Systems Engineer from Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme (NSWC PHD). He oversees the Navy’s Directed Energy (DE) programs such as Optical Dazzler Interdictor Navy (ODIN), High Energy Laser Integrated Optical-Dazzling System (HELIOS), Laser Weapon System Demonstrator (LWSD), and the Directed Energy System Integration Laboratory (DESIL).  His duties include strategic planning for sustaining DE systems in the fleet, career development for engineers, and new project & new business developments.

Mr. Sim has 14 years of Installation, Test & Evaluation, Training, and sustainment of naval weapons systems.  He began his career as a Naval Acquisition Development Program (NADP) Intern for the NATO Seasparrow Missile System (NSSMS), providing onboard technical support for the US fleet & NATO allies.  Throughout his career, broadened his experiences and developed his leadership through various assignments at different warfare centers, PEO IWS, and the US Marine Corps.  Serving as the ODIN Sustainment lead, he adapted his experience for execution for rapid acquisition programs.

Mr. Sim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, as well as a Professional Engineers (P.E.) license.  He is DAWIA Level III Certified in Engineering and Test & Evaluation, as well as a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
