Darrell Jaya-Ratnam

 Dr Darrell Jaya-Ratnam is the managing director of DIEM Analytics Ltd, a boutique research company known for its innovative AI and agile development. He has worked in defence for 35years. As an MOD civil servant, he held posts in the Eurofighter project office and writing NATO research strategy. He was seconded to the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency where he led the Infantry System Studies team, followed by the Warheads business group. He then joined leading strategy consultants McKinsey and Co Inc, where his clients included BAE Systems, the MOD and GKN. He set up DIEM Analytics in 2011 to develop operational decision-aides leading to a range of DASA and Dstl funded ‘rapid impact’ innovations, such as DUCHESS and MaLFIE, and several proof-of-concept AI applications tested in Ex FORMIDABLE SHIELD’21 and Ex JOINT PROTECTOR’22. He sits on the MOD’s ‘AI ethics advisory panel’ and has a PhD in terminal ballistics.
