Leonardo Puts Proteus UAS On Show At CNE
)
Defence prime Leonardo is showcasing Proteus, the rotary uncrewed aerial system (UAS) demonstrator it is developing for the Royal Navy, at this year’s CNE conference.
The Proteus demonstrator is the culmination of a four-year, £60 million contract agreed back in 2022 with the U.K. Ministry of Defence.
The autonomous UAS has been developed by Leonardo’s Future Programmes Group (FPG) in partnership with the Future Capabilities Innovation section of Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S).
The demonstrator is scheduled for flight tests later this year and a full-sized replica of the platform is on display on the Leonardo static area at CNE.
Also on display is the AWHero, Leonardo’s newest 200kg-class rotary UAS featuring crewed-uncrewed teaming capabilities.
CNE is running between Tuesday and Thursday this week at the International Exhibition and Conference Centre in Farnborough, U.K.
The largest annual naval event in Europe, in its 11th iteration it will this year welcome in excess of 2,200 delegates to hear 160+plus presentations and interact with more than 200 exhibitors from over 80 nations worldwide.
It will focus on all aspects of maritime security, including future surface fleet developments, underwater defence and security, and submarine and surface fleet technology.
